About Us

What we do?

Burton Law was enthusiastically established in 2020 by Halifax native David Burton. David was intent to create a law firm with a difference. To do so he poured everything that he had learned from his years as a litigator in Toronto, along with lessons learned from entrepreneurial experiences outside of law, into Burton Law.

Burton Law provides value to its clients through a unique combination of charm, expertise and low operating costs. We try to make the complex simple by providing clarity on costs, timeline and process.

Burton Law is principally focused on:

  • Real Estate Transactions (“Property Law”, etc.); and
  • Life & Legacy Planning (“Estate Law”, including Wills, Trusts, etc.).

The great thing about Burton Law’s focus on these two distinct areas is that they compliment each other. Being good at one makes us better at the other, and vice-versa. Also, unlike more obscure areas of law, like Securities Law or International Trade Law, a large segment of Nova Scotians will require just the sort of legal help Burton Law provides.

At Burton Law, we enjoy nothing more than solving a new problem for an old client, whether it’s helping put them in a their new home or helping them with their Life & Legacy Planning by setting up a family trust or drafting a new Will.

How we do it?

When working on a real estate transaction, we appreciate that we are helping our clients through a transaction that is very likely one of the largest financial decisions of their lives.

When helping clients with Life & Legacy planning we do so with an appreciation that when we help a client through the process of signing off on their Last Will and Testament, or setup a trust, we are helping that individual provide for their families and define their legacy.

David enjoys nothing more than being the calm voice of reason that helps our clients navigate these important milestones with confidence. David’s service is always tailored to the client and designed to optimize results.
